Robert Half Technology is seeking a Network Engineer with server side support to work for an industry leading lumber production company in Vancouver, WA. The perfect candidate will have a high attention to detail and thrive in a collaborative environment and help drive their teammates to success.

• Responsible for leading the design, implementation, operation standards, and availability of core networking services and devices used by system users, applications, and business partners.
• Experience evaluating, managing, and developing agreements with service providers.
• Define and manage implementation and support of network architecture elements integrating with network service providers, internal networks, Internet, and business partner interfaces
• Develop and monitor security standards and procedures to safeguard systems from unauthorized access
• Implement and manage network firewalls interfacing with the Internet and within private networks
• Implement and manage security devices allowing effective and secure access into the network by remote users and business partners.
• Determine root cause of networking or application problems with mid to high levels of complexity.
• Design, implement, and manage secure and reliable IT services supporting a variety of business requirements, while working closely with business partners, service vendors, and client teams.
• Manage network equipment including switches, routers, wireless and other remote access devices and methods.
• Lead the design and documentation standards for network configurations.
• Support VOIP and other priority traffic over the network
• Install and customize network system software and patches to allow for the smooth exchange of data in and between locations.
• Coordinate with vendors and application developers to ensure a stable and responsive network environment.
• Frequently required to be on-call on a 7x24 basis to respond to reported problems
• Responsible for the operation and availability of core computing platforms and devices used by system users, applications, and business partners.
• Determine root cause of system or application problems with medium to high levels of complexity.
• Coordinate with system and software vendors and client teams to implement IT services supporting a variety of business requirements.
• Responsible for the management of operating systems including a minimum of two of the following types: Windows, HP-UX / UNIX, LINUX, and OS400.
• Responsible for management of operating system security and virus protection software
• Responsible for leading the architecture, implementation, and management of Microsoft active directory or other enterprise services.
• Responsible for leading the implementation and administration of corporate databases hosting business-critical applications
• Develop and maintain processes to assure consistent performance and availability of database servers
• Development and management of automated system management processes
• Create and maintain images or processes for consistent server replication and deployment
• Create and manage new systems utilizing dedicated hardware or VMWare
• Lead the development and maintain appropriate documentation on system specifications and operating instructions, applying knowledge of disk management (including SAN-based systems), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy.
• Coordinate with application teams to lead the design of effective and efficient architectures, supporting business requirements

Requirements:
• 7+ years of experience
• Strong working knowledge of system commands, utilities, and system administration tasks
• Broad working knowledge and understanding of operating system and application interface concepts.
• Working knowledge of network concepts, protocols, applications, and tools.
• Strong working knowledge of disk management (including SAN technologies), file systems, disk partitioning, and redundancy.
• High level of knowledge and experience managing databases and application interface support
• Excellent level of knowledge and experience with security processes and industry best practices
• Expert level of knowledge and experience supporting redundant systems and with disaster recovery plan development and testing
• Good ability to understand and write programs or scripts in support of system management automation
• Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Strong project management and team-based skills. In-depth working knowledge and experience managing Cisco, HP, Symantec, and other brands of other networking and security equipment
• In-depth understanding and working knowledge of network protocols and security best practices
• Strong working knowledge of UNIX and Windows commands, utilities, and system administration concepts.
• Expert working knowledge and experience managing firewalls to protect sensitive information and support service requirements
• Strong experience and working knowledge or wireless technologies
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
• Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects with mid or high levels of complexity.
• Good working knowledge and preferred certification in ITIL methodologies
• Ability to install, configure, and write utility software.
• Ability to support systems remotely using a variety of access methods.

Education:
• Network and security certifications or equivalent knowledge required.
